Emerge Announcement Bar
Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Ecom Emerge, the provider of Emerge Announcement Bar, collects, uses, shares, and protects information when merchants install or use the Shopify app and its theme app extension.
Information we collect
When a merchant installs or uses Emerge Announcement Bar, we collect and process information needed to install, authenticate, configure, support, and operate the app.
This may include the Shopify shop domain, shop name, primary domain, shop email, phone number, address, city, country, currency, timezone, OAuth session information, access tokens, granted scopes, and app configuration settings such as announcement messages, colors, links, coupon code, countdown time, free shipping goal, bar position, and display behavior.
The app does not request customer, order, product, inventory, or payment access scopes. The free shipping goal feature reads the storefront cart total in the customer's browser from Shopify's cart endpoint so the progress bar can update. That cart total is used on the storefront page and is not sent to our app server by the announcement bar script.
How we use information
We use merchant and shop information to authenticate the app, save announcement bar settings, render the theme app extension, maintain app security, troubleshoot issues, respond to merchant support requests, and comply with Shopify platform requirements.
We use app configuration settings to display the announcement bar selected by the merchant. We use Shopify session and token data only to provide the app's merchant-facing functionality and to communicate with Shopify APIs as required for installation and configuration.
Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with advertisers or data brokers.
We may share information with service providers that help us host, secure, monitor, or operate the app, but only as needed to provide those services. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or to comply with Shopify's policies and legal requests.
Data retention
We retain merchant account, session, and app configuration data for as long as needed to provide the app, maintain business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations.
When a merchant uninstalls the app or requests deletion, we delete or anonymize personal information when it is no longer required for legitimate business, security, or legal purposes.
Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information processed by the app, including Shopify authentication, access tokens, server-side session storage, and restricted access to production systems.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If we become aware of a security issue that affects personal information, we will take appropriate steps to investigate and respond.
Merchant and customer rights
Merchants may contact us to request access, correction, export, or deletion of personal information associated with their shop, subject to legal and contractual requirements.
Shopify customers who have questions about their personal information should contact the merchant directly. If Shopify sends us a required privacy request, including customer data request, customer redact, or shop redact webhooks, we will process it in accordance with Shopify requirements.
International transfers
Information may be processed in countries other than the country where a merchant or customer is located. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes will be communicated when required by law or Shopify policy.
